There are a number of coincidences concerning One Fine Day, that as any Pfeiffer Pfan, you should at least be aware of. Even Michelle has admitted she had a hard time watching the film because Melanie Parker is the character most like her in real life.
Interesting things to note:
| 1) Michelle Pfeiffer and
Melanie Parker share the same initials (MP) 2)The film the children watch near the end is The Wizard of Oz, Michelle's favourite film. In the book based on the screenplay, it is Mary Poppins, so there had to be a reason for changing it. 3) At one point George Clooney's Jack Taylor, gets called Jack Kelley, the name of Michelle's father-in-law, and who John Henry was named after. 4) Near the end when Melanie bumps into the table in her apartment, it was apparently not in the script. Michelle's clumsiness was therefore left in the movie. |

5) Both Michelle and Melanie are control-freaks
6)Michael Badalucco, who plays Jimmy Berluti in the Emmy and Golden Globe winning TV series, The Practice (written and produced by David E Kelley) has a bit part as a police officer in the station. The story goes that although he had a small part, Michelle recognised his dedication and mentioned him to her husband when Badalucco auditioned for a guest appearance in an episode of The Practice. David was impressed enough by him to give him one of the roles in the ensemble cast.
7)George Clooney and Michelle knew each
other before they made One Fine Day.
Years ago, George dated Michelle's sister, Dedee.
10)Holland Taylor, who plays Rita, Melanie's mother in OFD,
went on to play a judge in The Practice, and won a
Golden Globe for the role. Her character in the David E. Kelley
legal drama had an age-gap romance with Michael Baddaluco's (also
in The Practice and One Fine Day- see above)
character, Jimmy.
If you have noticed anything else, feel free to mention it and it will be included...
