University Involvement & Leadership
While completing my degree, I was a regular contributor to NUX, the independent student newspaper on the Pietermaritzburg campus.  I worked as a writer, sub-editor, layout artist (using Adobe Pagemaker), and, from March 2002, as a cartoonist.

In 2005, while completing my English Honours, I tutored First Year English to classes of 17-35 students.

   
External Leadership Activities

Since September 1998 I have maintained a fan website for actress Michelle Pfeiffer.  It is currently one of the three most popular Michelle Pfeiffer sites on the Internet, with over 1000 visitors per week.  I am responsible for commentary and content. I am self-taught in Microsoft FrontPage, and am familiar with HTML, and basic Javascript.

Since February 2000, I have also sent out a monthly e-mail newsletter of Michelle Pfeiffer news to over 200 subscribers world-wide.  This involves searching for news and articles in the media, editing and compiling them into a newsletter form, as well as writing my own articles and editorial.

I am also a moderator at an online forum, In The Pond.

Completed an intensive One Year Digital Graphic Design course in 2000 at Mediatek Training Institute, in Durban. This covered Desktop Publishing, Web Design and Multimedia Authoring.

I was one of the top ten applicants interviewed for a prestigious internship with the Cape Town branch of the Cambridge University Press. 110 applicants, from across South Africa, submitted CVs. 

I was among the top 13 candidates interviewed for a 2-year editor training and work experience programme with Independent Newspapers, Durban. Over 900 applications were made to Independent Newspapers’ Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg offices. In Natal, 120 applicants reached the intermediate stage.
